Spain-Alicante

Can someone say a girl’s trip! Since we were in middle school we talked about going around the world together, and it was finally happening. My best friend since 5th grade, MJ, was going to be in France with her family. So she came up with an amazing idea for my friend Ally and me to meet her in Spain for a couple days. We couldn’t say no to a trip of a lifetime. So we immediately started looking for flights and found such a great deal. We put it on our credit cards and it was booked. Spain here we come. I had never been out of the country without my parents or someone else parents at this point so I was excited.

We decided to only bring a backpacking pack, I know girls in Europe with only a backpack, but I made it happen. It was time for Ally and me to head to the airport for our 14-hour flight. I couldn’t sleep I was so excited.

When we landed my friend MJ said she would meet us outside. We couldn’t wait to get out into the Spain sun. We took a bus to our little flat just off the beach. It was the most perfect place with a balcony. Our first order of business was to drop our bag off and get wine and dinner. It was almost 10pm and we were worried that we wouldn’t be able to find a spot to eat, but little did we know in Spain that the time you eat dinner. I loved it. We weren’t rush we just got to enjoy ourselves.

Now it was time to get ready for our first night out. Again places in Spain don’t even open till around midnight. So we didn’t go out to our first bar till around 1am. That has to be one of the best nights I have ever experienced. We danced all night and when we were ready to go home we noticed it was 6:30am and the sun was about to come up. So we decided to go to the beach and watch the sunrise. In Spain, the sun comes out from the ocean, not like in California where the sun sets in the ocean. So that was something staying up over 30 hours for. Also going swimming in the warm ocean was something I had never experienced before.

The next day Iad met us in Alicante, from his month trip to Spain. We went to a castle with everyone that was right next to our Airbnb. We hiked up the hill to get it, I thought we were never going to make it up. But once we did, boy was it worth it. We were so high I was kind of scared. But we got to see the sunset which made every worry I had go away.

Even though I was only able to go to one city, Spain has me hooked and we already have plans to go back in the near future. Till then thank you Spain for your beautiful memories.
