Wisconsin

Ian and his family are originally from Wisconsin. One summer we all went back for a couple weeks. His mom, stepdad, step-sister, brother and I all jumped into a big van and they took us to SFO. When we first got to Wisconsin the first place we went to was Kopp’s a famous burger joint over there. Ian said he has never seen me eat a burger and milkshake so fast.

It was one of the best I have ever had. We got to stay at Ian’s aunt’s house for the first couple of days and go swimming. Our next stop was the cabin on the lake where Ian’s mom Cheryl and her sibling grew up. The town was called Minocqua and it was the cutest little town. They had the best candy stores and of course Packer stores full of different fan favorites. We couldn’t get enough of the custard. It was unlike any ice cream I’ve ever had.

On Fridays, most people attend something called a fish fry. We went to a place Cheryl and the boys would go to before the moved to California. The beer-battered fish was worth the two-hour wait. Luckily they had an endless amount of beer in Wisconsin, so we were happy to wait.

While on the lake we were able to fish, kayak, and go wakeboarding. I loved being on the water. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we would always be on the lake during the summers.

I told Ian that if we can one day, I would love to buy a home in Wisconsin. That’s how much I loved it there. With the fish fry and the insanely green trees, you can’t go wrong with a nice getaway to Wisconsin.
